QETC was founded by its English artistic director, Mark Winstanley, in 2002 and is now a registered charity. Mark set out to fill a gap in Amsterdam for quality, commercial English-language theatre in this otherwise very international city. QETC is run by talented contributors who donate their time and efforts in order to produce high quality plays and musicals.

Audiences get to see a professional standard show and indeed the majority of QETC's actors and contributors are trained professionals who just love good theatre. This high standard has given the company a loyal audience and means that QETC is frequently asked to tour its shows to other European cities.

QETC has received financial support from sponsors such as Boots, Reebok, Intratuin, Adria Airways and the Dutch Embassy in Slovenia. Likewise, QETC donates every year to Stop Aids Now - a worldwide charity helping children and adults cope with HIV and AIDS.
